Troops Thwart Major Assault in Plateau, Four Killed and Two Soldiers Missing

In a coordinated security operation, troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) repelled a major attack targeting communities in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. The confrontation left four people dead, including one soldier and three suspected bandits, while two soldiers are now reported missing.

Military sources disclosed that the troops acted on prior intelligence indicating armed bandits had mobilized approximately 200 motorcycles to assault Kampani community. Placed on immediate high alert, security forces successfully prevented the initial invasion.

However, the attackers later regrouped and launched a second offensive on Zurak village while troops were conducting clearance operations in nearby Sabon Gari. Engaging the assailants with superior firepower, the military forced a retreat, during which the attackers suffered significant casualties.

Authorities continue search operations for the two missing soldiers and are working to restore stability across the affected communities.
