Lab Scientists Hail DASH Akwanga’s Equipment Upgrade, Pledge Deeper Collaboration

The management of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) Akwanga has received commendation for its deliberate efforts in upgrading, procuring, and installing modern diagnostic equipment, a move expected to deliver timely, accurate, and reliable results for patients.

The commendation was made by the Chairman of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLS), Nasarawa State Branch, MLS. Dauda Stephen Makpa, during the association’s courtesy visit to the hospital.

MLS. Makpa stated that the investment in state-of-the-art equipment would not only improve clinical outcomes but would also position DASH Akwanga as a premier referral center within the state. He further applauded the management for the technical support extended to the association regarding the ongoing reconstruction work at the laboratory.

"Your understanding of the critical role the lab plays in diagnosis and patient care, and your willingness to involve our professionals in the planning, has made the process smoother and more result-oriented," Makpa said.

He praised the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Esala E. Abene, for his commitment to repositioning DASH Akwanga for better service delivery, adding that his open-door policy, passion for staff motivation, and drive for excellence will not go unnoticed.

The chairman also noted that the AMLS is willing to deepen its collaboration with DASH in several areas, including regular joint training for laboratory staff, collaborative research, public health programs, and community outreach initiatives.

In his response, the CMD, Dr. Abene, appreciated the association for the visit, acknowledging that as a professional body, they have a crucial role to play in the development of DASH Akwanga. According to him, the hospital will continue to support staff professional development within its available resources.

He further explained that the successes recorded within the past six months are a result of the critical roles played by the top management, Directors, and Heads of Units in ensuring the hospital achieves its goals, and he extended his appreciation to the entire management team for their teamwork.
