Nasarawa Governor Pledges New Ministry of Agriculture Building at State Secretariat

The Nasarawa State Government has announced plans to construct a new building for the Ministry of Agriculture, along with other yet-to-be-built ministries, at the new state secretariat.

Governor Abdullahi A. Sule gave this assurance during an inspection visit to the Ministry of Agriculture to assess its current state and inspect mechanized farming equipment. During the visit, the Governor reviewed tractors and combined harvesters recently purchased by the state government to boost rice cultivation at the Jangwa Rice Farm and enhance other farming methods across the state.

Led by the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture, Umar Tanko Tunga, the Governor toured the dilapidated offices of the ministry. He also observed new improved varieties of seedlings, vegetation, and crops, as well as the fish ponds operating within the ministry's premises.

Governor Sule reaffirmed that agriculture remains a focal point of his administration’s strategy to diversify the state’s economy. He stated that this focus aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope" agenda, aiming to ensure food security, strengthen the agricultural value chain, and improve the welfare of smallholder farmers across the state.

Earlier, the Honorable Commissioner, Umar Tanko Tunga, welcomed the Governor to the ministry, expressing delight at his presence. He appreciated the Governor’s immense support for agricultural production through various state initiatives.
