Gov.Sule Hails Outgoing APC Executives, Lauds Their Role in Peaceful Congresses

Governor Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State has officially thanked the outgoing State Executive Committee (EXCO) members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Dr. Aliyu Bello, for their years of dedicated service and for successfully steering the party through its recent ward and local government congresses.

The Governor delivered the valedictory address on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, in Lafia, just before his departure for an official engagement in Abuja.

"I have called you here first and foremost to thank you for all the years you have served as leaders," Gov. Sule stated. "I also want to express my deep appreciation for your conduct of the various congresses we have just concluded. I am aware of the critical roles many of you played to ensure we had peaceful exercises."

Acknowledging that no internal party process is ever without dissent, the Governor noted, "There is no congress that everyone will accept wholeheartedly. Naturally, like any election, some people will not be happy. But if the majority is comfortable, then it is a success."

Looking ahead to the upcoming state congress, which he described as "extremely important," Governor Sule outlined the principles that would guide the process. He explained that the party would apply the same strategy used at the ward and local government levels, which involved rotating long-serving members.

"At the ward level, we rotated those who had served for eight years, except in situations where stakeholders strongly felt that complete changes were not convenient," he explained. "In a few areas where there were almost complete changes, we encountered some problems and have tried our best to reconcile those areas."

The Governor also addressed the management of internal factions, emphasizing a commitment to inclusivity. "In some areas, powerful camps submitted their own lists. We received them and reconciled them by harmonizing with lists from other camps to ensure they were all-inclusive. No matter what you do in politics, you will never eliminate camps. We have tried, within our ability and wisdom, to resolve most of these issues," he asserted.

He added that while members who have served for eight years and remain relevant could be considered for other roles, some who have served for a shorter term might be moved if they become an obstacle to progress. "No matter what, there is no way everyone will return. Some of you here will come back, and I look forward to working with you again in the time I have left in office," he told the EXCO.

In his remarks, Governor Sule reaffirmed his commitment to fairness as a guiding principle. "One thing I am not afraid to say, and I will say it day and night: I want to be fair, based on my own understanding of fairness. I will support a zone I feel it is fair to support, and anyone who doesn't like it is on their own. That is my position," the Governor submitted.

Responding on behalf of the 36 outgoing executive members, Dr. Aliyu Bello expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for his humility and unprecedented support throughout their tenure.

"Your Excellency, I want to thank you on behalf of all of us. The journey with you was so sweet, so fantastic," Dr. Bello said. "All of us appreciate what you have done for us, except if you are an ingrate."
