NSUBEB: Probe Uncovers 73 Staff with Missing Certificates, Falsified Age Records

A committee tasked with investigating improper staff placements at the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) has uncovered significant irregularities, including 73 staff members without academic qualifications on file and widespread falsification of records.

The committee, which was inaugurated by the Executive Chairman of NSUBEB, Dr. Kassim Muhammed Kassim, in October 2025, officially submitted its findings. Led by Chairman Sir Allahnana Attah and assisted by Secretary Hajiya Hasiya Ahmed, the panel conducted a comprehensive review of personnel files.

According to the report, the investigation revealed that some employees had falsified their age records. In several instances, the documented ages would imply that individuals enrolled in primary school on the very same day they were born.

Further findings showed that certain staff members were employed in 2017 and 2018 but were placed on Grade Level 13, subsequently receiving salaries and entitlements meant for that senior rank. The committee’s review also uncovered records of promotions being processed during a period when the state governor had imposed a formal embargo on such advancements.

Additionally, the report noted instances where staff received promotions while on study leave and drew salaries for certificates that were never obtained.

These discrepancies have made it challenging for the current administration to accurately verify employment dates, qualifications, promotion histories, and retirement eligibility for the affected employees.

Presenting the report, Sir Attah requested that the Chairman give the findings and recommendations a thorough review to address the anomalies.

While receiving the document, Dr. Kassim assured that the report would be carefully studied and implemented accordingly.

He stated that the cases of employees employed at Grade Level 13 would be reviewed, and confirmed that staff members who lack academic qualifications or are found to have falsified their age will face consequences. Dr. Kassim reiterated his commitment to "changing the narrative" and strengthening the integrity of the civil service within the board.
