Nasarawa High Court Strikes Out Former TSC Chair's Suit for Lack of Prosecution

A high court sitting in Keffi has stuck out a lawsuit filled by the former Chairman of the Nasarawa State Teachers Service Commission, Abubakar Gada.

The presiding judge, Justice Peter Ozegya, dismissed the case on Monday after the plaintiff and his legal counsel failed to appear in court for the scheduled hearing.

The absence prompted the legal team representing the Nasarawa State Government to file an application seeking the dismissal of the suit for want of diligent prosecution. The state's counsel was led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaac Danladi, along with E.U. Aliyu, A.H. Akuson, and R.A. Umaru.

In his argument, Attorney General Danladi contended that the failure of the former Chairman and his lawyer to attend the proceedings was a clear indication of a lack of interest in pursuing the case.

After listening to the submissions from the state's legal team, Justice Ozegya ruled that the application had merit. He subsequently struck out the case, effectively bringing the legal proceedings to a halt at this stage.

The ruling does not permanently bar the former TSC Chairman from re-filing the case, should he choose to initiate fresh legal action in accordance with the law.
