The tranquil town of Fadan Kagoma, the headquarters of Gwong Chiefdom in Jema'a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was filled with excitement as dignitaries and community members gathered for a momentous occasion. The Kpop Gwong, His Highness Col. Paul Zakka Wyoms (rtd), conferred a prestigious traditional title on Dr. Jonathan Dyagas, a renowned sports administrator and former Accountant of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).

The ceremony, marked by vibrant pomp and pageantry, saw Dr. Dyagas turbaned as the Njet Gwong, a title that translates to "the Shining Star of Gwong."

While conferring the honour, the Kpop Gwong explained that the title was in recognition of Dr. Dyagas's outstanding contributions to the development of Gwongland and its people.

"This title is not just an honour, but a call to service," the monarch stated. "We expect you to continue to shine brightly, illuminating the path of progress and development for our community. We believe that your experience and expertise will open up new opportunities for our sons and daughters, not just in sports, but in all areas of human endeavour."

Visibly moved by the recognition, Dr. Dyagas expressed his profound gratitude to the Gwong traditional institution for bestowing the title upon him.

"This is a proud moment of thanksgiving, reflection, and renewed commitment," he said. "I pledge to continue to contribute positively to the growth and development of Gwongland, and to be a shining star for all Nigerians."

The newly turbaned Njet Gwong dedicated the honour to his late mother, crediting her prayers, sacrifices, and values as the foundation of his success. "Her legacy lives on, and I will continue to strive to make her proud," he added.

Dr. Dyagas, who has also served as Finance Director and Accountant for the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, promised to live up to the expectations of the Gwong community. He pledged to leverage his new platform to promote the development of sports and other key areas in the region.

In a key remark at a grand reception organized by the celebrant in his hometown of Paki 2, Kagoma, the Chairman of the occasion and Member of the National Assembly for Jema'a/Sanga Federal Constituency, Honourable Daniel Amos, spoke of the honour of being part of the celebration. He lauded the conferment of the Njet Gwong title on Dr. Dyagas, describing his achievements as a testament to his dedication and service to the community.

"His contributions to sports development, particularly in Nigeria, are commendable, and this title is a fitting recognition of his efforts," Hon. Amos said. He observed that, as the Njet Gwong, Dr. Dyagas embodies the values of leadership, excellence, and service. "I have no doubt he will continue to shine brightly, inspiring others and contributing to the growth of Gwongland and beyond."
