Zamfara Lawmaker Jumps Ship, Dumps PDP for Ruling APC

From Adam Muhammad, Gusau

Hon. Maharazu Salisu Faru, the serving lawmaker representing Maradun 2 in the Zamfara State House of Assembly, has defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing his decision at the APC state headquarters in Gusau on Tuesday, Hon. Faru cited a lack of transparency, justice, and equality under the PDP-led state government as his primary reasons for leaving.

He specifically accused Governor Dauda Lawal's administration of marginalizing his constituency, Maradun Local Government Area, since taking office. The lawmaker claimed this unfair treatment was the main catalyst for his move to the APC.

“I am joining the APC to bring about meaningful change and development to the people of Zamfara State,” Faru stated, adding that he was determined to work hard to ensure the APC's victory in the 2027 state elections.

While receiving the defector, the state APC Chairman, Hon. Tukur Danfulani, promised to fully integrate Faru and his supporters as legitimate members of the party.

“The party will accommodate everyone as legitimate, card-carrying members in the state,” Danfulani said.

He emphasized the party's determination to reclaim power in Zamfara. “We will restructure our party for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and, God willing, the APC will regain its mandate in 2027.”

Danfulani urged all APC members in the state to remain united and law-abiding to secure the party's future victories.
