Nasarawa AGILE Project to Renovates 515 Public Secondary school

The Nasarawa State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has announced the commencement of a comprehensive renovation program for 515 public secondary schools across the state. This initiative falls under Component 1.2 of the project, focused on the Renovation of Existing School Structures.

Disclosing this during a pivotal meeting with Technical Service Providers, the State Project Coordinator, Hajiya Aishatu Aliyu Isoga, outlined the scope of the intervention. The renovations will be categorized by grant size, targeting 313 schools with small grants, 159 with medium grants, and 25 with large grants.

“This initiative is fundamentally about providing our children, especially adolescent girls, with a safe and conducive learning environment,” stated Hajiya Aishatu. “By transforming our school infrastructure, we are not only expanding access to education but also ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to pursue her dreams without barriers.”

The Coordinator emphasized the critical role of the Technical Service Providers, who have been selected based on proven integrity and technical competence. Their primary responsibility will be to support the School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) to ensure the successful and high-quality implementation of the projects.

The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D.W. Mamman, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Mohammed Sani Bala, charged the service providers to execute their duties with the utmost diligence and professionalism.

“View this assignment not just as a project, but as a legacy you are building for our state,” Dr. Mamman urged. “The structures you renovate will stand for generations, and your contributions will be remembered as part of the transformative change in Nasarawa’s education sector.”

The event also featured goodwill messages from representatives of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs), and community leaders. Each speaker pledged their full support for the AGILE Project and commended the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for all students to thrive.
