Defection: Nigeria can never be a one party state- Bwacha, ex Taraba APC gov. candidate •Knocks Taraba APC structure
From Nick Yashi, Jalingo
The APC governorship candidate for the 2023 General election in Taraba, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has allayed fears that Nigeria was drifting into a one party state. He said "Nigeria can never be a one party state", while also describing those who are defecting to the APC as mostly pretenders.
Bwacha, while interacting with selected members of the media in Jalingo, said while some of the defectors are genuine, others are pretenders who only needed a soft landing.
He added that President Tinubu was quite experienced to know the genuine ones from the fake.
Bwacha said: "most of them are doing this crossover because of survival. Some of them are afraid because they want a cover.
"Some of them genuinely believe that Tinubu is doing well, but some who have vision would still be in their party and work for Tinubu
"These are the two scenarios that would play out.
"Some of them are also going there to pretend because it is the normal lifestyle. They move with the weather.
"That takes us to the ideological framework for political parties which is not yet there.
"They are wolfs in sheep clothing. Tinubu knows some of them because he is also a grandmaster. You can't beat experience.
"Give it or take it, Tinubu is one of the most experienced politicians the country has ever produced. When he is in charge, he knows the pretenders, he knows the genuine. Some people don't want to play the cards with him, that is why they just threw in the towel".
He disclosed that the three layers of the party structure in the state namely- the party executive, the elected under the platform of the party, the Minister that the President appointed from the state, never carried him along saying he would never follow them like a "duck".
He added: "When certain individuals who are strange bed fellows come together and have varied political views, missions and vision, i would not go for that meeting.
"I am not a duck. The duck puts its children forward. But in leadership, the followers follow behind. When you want me to look like a duck, i wont because i am not a duck".
Bwacha opined that "Tinubu has no contender in 2027, but as for Taraba, there could be contenders".
"I would not say it until we get there to see who are qualified for election that would be a product of the people's collective desire and vision", he concluded.
