SKaid Provides Free Medical Outreach to Hundreds in Zangon Kataf Local Government

A non-governmental organization, SKaid, has launched a free medical outreach program benefiting hundreds of residents in the Samaru community of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State.  

During the outreach, the Executive Director of SKaid, Mr. Bello Bisalla, emphasized that the initiative aims to advance social welfare, bridge gaps in community healthcare needs, and complement government efforts. He reiterated the NGO’s commitment to impacting society through strategic interventions focused on preventive care, access to treatment, and community health education.  

“We believe every individual deserves access to essential healthcare services, regardless of their socio-economic status,” Bisalla stated. He explained that SKaid’s goal is to build healthier communities in Southern Kaduna, acknowledging the significant contributions of Southern Kaduna stakeholders to the initiative.  

The outreach program provided a range of services, including general medical checkups, eye care and free reading glasses, maternal and child health services, laboratory testing, free medication and prescriptions, as well as health education and counseling. 

Dr. Silas Amos Bakut, speaking on behalf of the medical team, highlighted the importance of the program in offering free access to medical checkups, surgeries, and treatment for eye diseases. He noted that the government alone cannot address the medical needs of all Nigerians, making such initiatives crucial.  

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Joseph Bege Gaiya, expressed gratitude to the founder of SKaid, Rear Admiral Ferguson Dukas Bobai (Rtd), for his lifelong dedication to serving communities in various capacities.  

Gaiya praised the NGO for bringing relief to vulnerable residents in need of healthcare services and reiterated his administration’s readiness to partner with organizations focused on meaningful development. “We will do everything possible to ensure quality healthcare delivery for our people,” he assured.  

Beneficiaries Cecilia Francis and Duchi Chom, overwhelmed with gratitude, thanked SKaid for its kindness and called for the sustainability of such initiatives. They also urged privileged members of society to extend support to disadvantaged communities, fostering a more inclusive and habitable society.  

The outreach program stands as a testament to SKaid’s dedication to improving healthcare access and empowering communities in Southern Kaduna.
