The Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Professor Mohammed Sani Bello, has praised the accreditation of 29 Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) courses at the College of Education Gidan Waya by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), describing it as a significant achievement for the institution.

Speaking at the COEASU End-of-Year Secretariat/Financial Report Presentation, Send-off for Retired Members, and Award Ceremony, the Commissioner urged the college staff to reciprocate the achievement through hard work and dedication. Represented by the College Provost, Dr. Ayuba Ambi Aku, Professor Bello commended retired COEASU members for their contributions to the college’s development and wished them success in their future endeavors.

Dr. Aku, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the challenges facing the institution, including neglected infrastructure, uncompleted access roads, dilapidated hostels, and a lack of overhead funding for over two years. He appealed to the government to address these issues to ensure the smooth operation of the college.

In their goodwill messages, the Chairman of the Kaduna State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Mamood Lawal Sama’ila, and the Minority Leader, Mr. Ali Kalat, pledged to take measures to tackle the challenges hindering the institution’s growth.

Earlier, the COEASU Chairman of the College, Dr. Alkali Marados, commended the state government for approving a 65-year retirement age for academic staff and for enabling staff to apply for land allocation. He also praised the Provost for his commitment to staff welfare, particularly in ensuring timely promotions.

The event featured the presentation of meritorious service and excellence awards to individuals who contributed significantly to the college’s growth. Recipients included the Commissioner of Education, Professor Mohammed Sani Bello; Barrister Mamood Sani Bello, Chairman of the Education Committee; Mr. Ali Kalat, Minority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly; Comrade Audu Titus Amba, National President of the NUT; and the Provost, Dr. Ayuba Ambi Aku.
