Governor Sule Inaugurates 15 New Commissioners, Charges Them to Drive Nasarawa’s Development Agenda

In a bid to strengthen governance and accelerate socio-economic development, Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, on Friday, February 21, 2025, swore in 15 new commissioners as members of the State Executive Council. The ceremony, held at Lafia City Hall, marked a significant step in the administration’s commitment to responsive and vibrant public service.  

Governor Sule emphasized that the reconstitution of the Executive Council aligns with his administration’s dedication to addressing the aspirations of Nasarawa’s citizens. He urged the new appointees to rise to the state’s developmental challenges and work diligently to leave a lasting legacy.  

“Public service is a public trust,” the Governor declared. “You are coming on board at a time when this administration is focused on achieving robust, inclusive, and enduring development. I charge you to be dedicated, result-oriented, and committed to the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS), which serves as our blueprint for progress.”  

The Governor also highlighted the importance of fostering good working relationships with civil servants and ministry staff to create a conducive environment for efficient service delivery. He called on the commissioners to exemplify hard work, loyalty, and selfless service in their roles.  

The newly sworn-in commissioners were selected after extensive consultations with critical stakeholders and a rigorous screening process by the State House of Assembly. Governor Sule commended the Assembly for its diligence and patriotism, noting that their collaboration would continue to strengthen governance in the state.  

However, the swearing-in ceremony saw 15 commissioners take their oaths, with one nominee, Margaret Elayo, excluded pending the resolution of unspecified issues. The Governor assured the public that the matter would be addressed transparently.  

In addition to the Executive Council’s inauguration, Governor Sule addressed the challenges within the State Teachers Service Commission (TSC). He announced the termination of appointments of the previous TSC members due to misconduct and pledged to reconstitute the commission. The new body will oversee the recruitment of 1,500 teachers from a pool of over 3,000 applicants, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection.  

Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, Hajiya Munira Abdullahi, Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Planning, expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for the opportunity to serve. She praised the Governor’s transformative policies, which have positioned Nasarawa among the top three economically viable states in Nigeria.  

The Governor concluded the event by assigning portfolios to the new commissioners, ensuring a balanced distribution of responsibilities across key sectors.

5. **Hajiya Munira Abdullahi (Doma)** – Finance, Budget, and Planning  

6. **Aminu Mu’azu Maifata (Lafia)** – Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs  

7. **Muazu Adamu Gosho (Wamba)** – Works, Housing, and Transport  

8. **Barr. Isaac Danladi (Karu)** – Environment  

9. **Jabbo Hauwa Samuel (Wamba)** – Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice  

10. **John D.W. Mamman (Kokona)** – Education
