Jema'a LGA Chairman Inaugurates Over 100 Special Assistants, Advisers to Strengthen Grassroots Governance

The Executive Chairman of Jema'a Local Government Area, Honourable Peter Tanko Dogara, has inaugurated another phase of grassroots administration with the presentation of appointment letters to over 100 Special Assistants and Special Advisers.

The exercise, held at the council secretariat yesterday, marks the administration’s first major political appointments for the month and is being framed as a deliberate strategy to broaden participation in governance at the local level.

According to the Chairman, the appointments were designed to reflect the demographic, ethnic, and religious composition of Jema'a Local Government, with deliberate inclusion of youths, women, and community stakeholders across all wards.

Addressing concerns about partisanship in political appointments, Honourable Dogara mentioned that the selection process was conducted without bias or discrimination, cutting across party lines, ethnic groups, and religious divides to build a government that represents every segment of the area council.

He described the exercise not as a mere issuance of letters, but as "a reaffirmation of commitment to participatory governance, youth empowerment, and the recognition of women as critical agents of development."

In his charge to the new appointees, Honourable Dogara urged them to approach their roles with diligence, accountability, and a service-oriented mindset. He noted that public office, at any level, must translate into tangible outcomes for citizens, and that they are expected to serve as the bridge between the government and the people at the grassroots.

The Chairman further assured residents that the appointments represent only the initial phase of the administration’s human capital development plan, and that subsequent initiatives would align with the broader development agenda of the Kaduna State Government under Governor Senator Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Stakeholders' Relationship, Honourable Jerry Mutuah, expressed gratitude to the Chairman for the confidence reposed in them. He described the appointments as a demonstration of visionary and fair leadership, commended the Chairman for ensuring balance in the selection process, and pledged to justify the confidence placed in them by being diligent, accessible, and committed to the progress of Jema'a LGA and Kaduna State Government.

A cross-section of the appointees further pledged to work in unity with the council leadership to ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to every community, irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious affiliation.

They commended the administration for the move, which is intended to enhance service delivery, improve feedback mechanisms, and ensure that policies are responsive to community needs. 

They described the development as the beginning of a new dawn for Jema'a LGA, adding that the council remains committed to peace, progress, and prosperity for the people, and to decentralizing administrative functions by strengthening ward-level engagement ahead of key government programmes.
