‘It’s Karu’s Turn’: Stakeholders Endorse Jonathan Gaza for Nasarawa Governor in 2027

Cite population, revenue contribution and poor infrastructure; say Karu needs development

It was a moment of political excitement on Saturday as stakeholders in Karu Local Government Area endorsed Hon. Jonathan Gaza as their sole candidate for the Nasarawa State governorship in 2027.

The endorsement, which cut across tribes and residents irrespective of region or state of origin, was made at a well-attended ceremony held at Ivana Event Centre, One Man Village.

The event, tagged “Karu for Governor, The Chosen One: Reset Nasarawa State,” was attended by Gaza’s running mate, Alhaji Adamu Ninga; the Labour Party State Chairman, Comrade Asoloko Maku; and Labour Party House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates from across the state.

Also in attendance were tribal groups with their traditional leaders, youth groups and women groups, who converged to rally support for Gaza’s candidature as the next governor of Nasarawa State.

Shortly after the endorsement, the Labour Party governorship candidate declared that it was Karu’s turn to produce the next governor of Nasarawa State in 2027.

He compared Karu with local governments such as Keffi, Akwanga and Lafia, which, he said, enjoy quality infrastructure because they have produced governors in the past.

Gaza lamented the poor state of road networks in Karu despite the area generating the highest revenue for the state.

“Keffi has pipe-borne water, but Karu, which generates the highest revenue, does not have,” he said, adding that Karu has the voting strength to elect its own, given its record of highest voter registration.

Earlier, the Chairman of Karu Stakeholders, Mr. Boniface Iornumbe, and Igwe Uchendu of Ado said stakeholders, comprising all tribes resident in Karu and its environs, had resolved to support their own to bring development to the area.

In their remarks, the candidate for Karu/Gitata State Constituency, Hon. David Maiyaki, and other speakers promised to deliver Gaza in the 2027 elections.

They urged other governorship candidates to stay away from Karu votes, insisting that the son of the soil would receive massive support to emerge as governor.

Stakeholders cited population, revenue contribution and lack of infrastructure in Karu as reasons for the endorsement, and called on other zones to support the Karu agenda.
