DASH Akwanga Launches Eye Surgery Services, Marks Milestone with Successful Procedures
Eye surgical services have officially commenced at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) in Akwanga, marking a significant milestone for healthcare in the region.
Chief Medical Director Dr. Esala E. Abene announced the development following a *successful initial surgery performed at the hospital’s eye theatre.* He assured the public that competent and comprehensive eye treatments including surgical interventions are now readily available at the facility.
Speaking after the procedure, Consultant Ophthalmologist Dr. Aboje O. Aboje revealed that the first set of patients, which included a married couple, underwent *successful cataract surgeries*. According to Dr. Aboje, the patients were admitted the day before their surgeries, and all procedures were completed without complications. They are currently recovering well and are scheduled for routine follow-up appointments to monitor their progress.
Dr. Aboje urged residents of Akwanga and beyond who are experiencing vision problems to take advantage of the DASH eye clinic for proper medical care. He also warned against traditional and harmful home-based practices, stressing that such interventions can be detrimental to eye health and overall vision.
