By: Abubakar Labaran
The Senator for Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, has felicitated with Reverend Professor Yusuf Turaki and Mrs. Deborah Turaki on their 80th and 70th birthdays.
In a message he made available to newsmen today, the Senator said, "I join family, friends, the Church, and the academic community to celebrate two remarkable lives—Reverend Professor Yusuf Turaki on his 80th birthday, and his beloved wife, Mrs. Deborah Turaki, on her 70th birthday."
Katung mentioned that Baba Turaki has been a towering voice of scholarship, faith, and moral courage in Nigeria and beyond, whose life’s work in theology, ethics, and nation-building has shaped generations of leaders and strengthened the Church’s witness in public life.
He also acknowledged Mrs. Deborah Turaki, whose quiet strength, devotion, and partnership have been the foundation that has sustained this legacy of service.
The Senator noted that together, the couple have modeled a marriage built on faith, sacrifice, and purpose. He added that eighty and seventy years are not just numbers; they are a testimony of God’s grace, faithfulness, and the enduring impact of a life lived for others.
"On behalf of my family and the good people of Kaduna South Senatorial District, I thank God for your lives and pray that He grants you more years in peace, good health, and joy. May your legacy continue to inspire us toward truth, justice, and service to humanity," the Senator added.
He once again congratulated them and wished a happy birthday to both.
