Avoid Bitterness, Embrace Peace, Senator Katung Tells Constituents
By: Abubakar Labaran
The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, has urged citizens of his constituency to shun politics of bitterness.
The Senator made the call today in a press statement made available to his compatriots, citizens of Kaduna South Senatorial District, and the good people of Kaduna State.
Senator Katung stated that as the great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), approaches its forthcoming primaries, he considers it both a responsibility and a moral duty to speak directly to his supporters, well-wishers, and all committed members of the party across the district and beyond.
He observed that over the years, he has sought to build a reputation anchored on peace, civility, and the firm belief that politics must remain a noble instrument of service, not a theatre for personal vendettas or division.
Katung said that at this important moment, he urges everyone to rise above the lure of divisive rhetoric and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the true spirit of democracy and preserves the dignity of the people.
He stressed that internal party contests are an essential feature of any vibrant democracy. However, they must never be reduced to platforms for bitterness, character attacks, or unnecessary rancour. Rather, they should be approached with maturity, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the ideals that bind everyone together.
"I appeal earnestly to our supporters, well-wishers, and every loyal party member to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused on the greater good. That greater good is the peace, unity, and accelerated development of Southern Kaduna, as well as the continued strengthening of our party as a credible vehicle for good governance," he said.
"Let me state clearly: the interest of our people must always come before personal ambition. No aspiration, however worthy, can surpass the collective interest of Southern Kaduna. I therefore call on all aspirants and stakeholders to adhere strictly to the rules, respect the democratic process, and place the future of our district above all else."
While expressing optimism that as proud members of the APC, the unity of the people remains their greatest asset, the Senator advised that they must stand together shoulder to shoulder to deliver overwhelming support for His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, CON; and all candidates of their great party in the 2027 general elections. United in purpose, there is no limit to what they can achieve for their people and their nation.
"My confidence in the integrity of our party’s internal processes remains firm. I urge us all to continue in prayer, uphold mutual respect, and remain steadfast in our commitment to a peaceful and credible process," he added.
He admonished all and sundry to reject political violence in all its forms and demonstrate to the world that Southern Kaduna stands firmly for peace, unity, and issue-based politics.
