No zoning for 2027 Governorship election in Nasarawa State-Agara

Former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State and aspirant for the 2026 Senatorial bye election in Nasarawa North Senatorial district His Excellency, Hon. Silas Ali Agara has declared that there is no established zoning for the 2027 governorship election in Nasarawa State.

Agara made the remarks on Saturday when the leadership of mada youth Association led a solidarity rally of its members in support of his Senatorial bid to his residence in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.

Agara who recently resigned his position as the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment NDE to contest the Senatorial position vaccated by the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki said discussions around zoning of any position, be it Governorship or Senatorial seat for the Northern zone has never taken place anywhere.

"As far as some of us are concerned,  there is no zoning in Nasarawa State, because history has shown that people from the three senatorial districts have contested against each others in all governorship elections held since 1999 till date"

He expressed optimism that Nasarawa North Senatorial district will contest the 2027 Governorship position, stating that the zone has the capacity to produce the next governor of the state and dismissed the purported zoning of the next deputy governor to Nasarawa Eggon, a decision he said was orchestrated to by some few individuals to deprive the people of its rights to effective leadership.

"As far as I am concerned, Nasarawa North Senatorial district is interested in the governorship seat of the state.

The Eggon man doesn't want Deputy Governor, the Eggon man want something more than that"

Agara assured that elites and other stakeholders in the zone will throw their support and resources to anybody who will contest for the governorship in the Senatorial zone as discussions are ongoing.

"If at the end we don't have any body from my party in the zone, we will come to the round table and decide who to support in any  other zone"

For the Senatorial bye election to be soon conducted,  Agara said no decision has been reached among the structures of the APC for which he is a member from the ward level to the top as he has never been invited to such meetings.

"We have not sat down any where to decide whether it should be wamba, Akwanga or Nasarawa Eggon but for some of us at our level of leadership,  we are discussing with elites from Nasarawa Eggon,  Wamba and that is why no elite has come out to say anything now but at the appropriate time you will hear them"

While appreciating the mada youths and other stakeholders of the zone for supporting his aspiration, Agara said he is offering himself as competent and experienced politician to replace the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki to complete his laudable projects spread across the zone.

Speaking separately during the rally, President of the mada youths Association, Comr. Augustine Gyobe, Hon. Samson Bala, Comr. Kyune John Umaru, Lydia Thomas, Daniel Sunday Lawee and Gyobe Wakili(CK), all lauded the pivotal roles played by Agara in attracting both human and infrastructural development to the mada nation and the Northern Senatorial District while serving in different capacities at the state and national levels.

They described him as the most competent and suitable candidate to represent the zone at the Senate to ensure their voices are heard and attract national presence to the zone.

The mada youths who thanked Agara for accepting to contest the position, assured him of their total support and their readiness to mobilize massively for the bye election when nominated to fly the flag of the ruling APC.
