Bogoro District Head Bans Alcohol Sales, Consumption to Curb Terrorism and Moral Decay

 The District Head of Bogoro, in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Mr. Nuhu Tafida, has imposed a total ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol across all communities within his domain.

The announcement was made during a sensitization meeting with alcohol sellers and bar owners held at his palace. According to a spokesperson for the Bogoro Local Government Area, the measure is aimed at reducing substance abuse while promoting health and communal peace.

Mr. Tafida explained that the ban is part of a broader effort to tackle numerous social vices plaguing the area, including terrorism, cultism, drug abuse, theft, gang violence, low birth rates, and general moral decay—all of which, he said, lead to the tragic loss of lives and property.

The district head has ordered the closure of all alcohol sales points within 21 days. He warned that anyone found violating the new law would face severe punishment.

In addition, Mr. Tafida called on traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, and health workers to support him in raising awareness and enforcing the order to protect the community
