Bed Capacity Rises from 33 to 61 at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Temporary Site

The temporary site of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Akwanga, has recorded a significant boost in its healthcare delivery capacity, with bed capacity increasing from 33 to 61.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Esala E. Abene, disclosed this at the Kwantamania foundation free medical outreach held at the Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital Akwanga.

Dr. Abene explained that the expansion was part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access and accommodate the growing number of patients seeking medical attention at the facility. 

He noted that the temporary site had been operating with just 33 beds due to space constraints, but with the renovation of additional wards, the number of beds has increased, which will ease congestion and enhance service delivery.

"The welfare of our patients remains our top priority. With this increase from 33 to 61 beds, we can now attend to more patients, reduce waiting times, and ensure that those in critical condition receive timely care," Dr. Abene said.

The CMD further reassured the public that the hospital management, in collaboration with the state government, remained committed to upgrading facilities and ensuring that the temporary site operates at the standards of a full-fledged specialist hospital.

He also commended the governor, the state Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders for their continued support in making the expansion possible.

The temporary site has been serving as an alternative care center pending the completion of ongoing construction, renovation, and expansion work at the main hospital along Lafia Road, Akwanga.
