Ramadan: Southern Kaduna Senator Bridges Faiths with Food Relief for Muslim Constituents

By: Abubakar Labaran

In a gesture of inclusive leadership, the Senator representing Southern Kaduna, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, has delivered a truckload of rice to Muslim communities across his constituency as part of his Ramadan palliative support.

The handover ceremony, which drew representatives from the zone's eight local government areas, saw Ilyasu Musa, the Senator's Special Adviser on Islamic Affairs, underscore the lawmaker's commitment to uplifting his people regardless of their faith.

Musa noted that the donation is consistent with Senator Katung's established practice of providing support during major religious observances. He pointed to a similar intervention for Christian communities during the Christmas festivities as evidence of the Senator's even-handed approach.

"This support is specifically designed to ease the economic burden on families, particularly the needy and vulnerable, during this holy month," Musa told the gathering. "We deeply appreciate Senator Katung's unwavering dedication to the welfare of all his constituents."

He charged the representatives with ensuring a transparent and equitable distribution of the food items, and offered prayers for continued peace and unity within the diverse district.

Beneficiaries at the event welcomed the contribution, describing it as a timely boost amid prevailing economic challenges.

Senator Katung represents the Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, which comprises the local government areas of Jema'a, Kaura, Kachia, Kagarko, Kauru, Sanga, Zangon Kataf, and Jaba.
