New Specialist Hospital Seeks Stronger Partnerships to Boost Healthcare in Nasarawa.

The Chief Medical Director of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) in Akwanga, Dr. Esala E. Abene, is advocating for stronger partnerships with key health agencies in Nasarawa State to enhance healthcare delivery.

Dr. Abene made the call during a courtesy visit by the specialist hospital’s management team to the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) and the Nasarawa State Drug Management Agency.

At the NASHIA office, the CMD stated that the visit was aimed at introducing the new management and officially informing the agency that the specialist hospital has commenced operations in Akwanga. He reiterated DASH’s commitment to collaborating with the state health insurance agency, revealing that the hospital has inherited 4,000 clients previously enrolled under NASHIA at the Akwanga Model Hospital.

Dr. Abene explained that with the establishment of a specialist hospital it is  expected to attract more clients, underscoring the need for both government agencies to strengthen their relationship for optimal service delivery.

"Our clients will find the kind of services they will appreciate each time they visit our facility," he assured. "We are making efforts to ensure all necessary specialist services are available to patients when they come to DASH Akwanga."

The CMD also disclosed that it is Governor Abdullahi Sule’s desire to see the first phase of the hospital’s construction completed within one year. He revealed that the management is making concerted efforts to secure the governor’s approval to bring in specialists across various fields, allowing the hospital to begin offering essential services even as construction and expansion continue.

In his response, the Executive Secretary of NASHIA, Dr. Yahaya Bawa Ubam, appreciated the DASH management for the visit. He, however, appealed to the CMD to establish an insurance desk directly under his office for proper supervision and seamless coordination. Dr. Ubam assured the team of NASHIA’s readiness to partner with DASH for effective service delivery to enrollees.

The DASH management also paid a similar visit to the Nasarawa State Drugs and supply Management Agency. The General Manager, Pharmacist Haruna Wakili,  pledged robust collaboration and disclosed that plans are underway to establish a zonal drug distribution center in Akwanga in the nearest future to ensure proper distribution of drugs across the state.
