Senator Katung Cites Government's "Favorable Disposition" as Reason for Defection to APC
By: Abubakar Labaran
Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has attributed his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the “favorable disposition” of both the federal and state governments.
The senator’s remarks were delivered on Sunday during a reception held in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, to formally welcome his Senior Legislative Aide, Mr. Sunday Job Yabo.
Represented by former Kaduna State Commissioner Mr. Allahmagani Yohanna, Senator Katung praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assenting to the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan. He also thanked Governor Uba Sani for his role in facilitating the institutions.
The lawmaker described Yabo as a grounded grassroots mobilizer and politician, noting that his selection as an aide was an easy decision given his track record.
In his own remarks, Yabo emphasized the critical role youth play in politics and cautioned against irrational decisions, which he said carry serious consequences. He urged young people to prepare themselves for opportunities to serve, expressing optimism that through collective effort, meaningful changes could be made to improve lives. Yabo also pledged his commitment to selfless service.
In a goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of Kaura Local Government Council, Mr. Obadiah Sankey, encouraged youth in Southern Kaduna to embrace humility as a vital virtue for success. He urged them to view Yabo as a role model, avoid divisiveness, and support the government to attract more development projects.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Kaura Local Government, Honourable Sani Tachio, stated that with the caliber of new members joining the party, the APC was positioned for a landslide victory in the 2027 general elections.
A highlight of the event was the ceremonial dressing of the Senior Legislative Aide in Asholio cultural attire by the President of the Moro’a Development Association, Dr. Jolly La’ah, who described Yabo as a worthy ambassador of the community.
