Rehabilitated Kafanchan Market Reopens with Focus on Trade and Community Harmony

The Executive Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Council in Kaduna State, Hon. Peter Tanko Dogara, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to providing safe and secure environments for traders. He stated this during the official inspection and transition of traders into the newly rehabilitated Kafanchan Modern Market.

Hon. Dogara thanked the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for the numerous infrastructural projects undertaken in the local government, ranging from road construction to hospital and market renovations. He emphasized that mechanisms would be established to regulate goods and services prices and urged traders to adhere strictly to all laid-down rules and regulations.

The Council Chairman also pledged to ensure fairness in shop allocation and rental processes, promising the council’s support for all traders.

In his address, the Chairman of the Kafanchan Modern Market, Yahaya Makadi, commended Governor Uba Sani for his people-centered leadership. He encouraged traders to leverage the new facility to boost their businesses and appealed to the state government to provide startup empowerment, particularly for those who suffered losses in the 2011 crisis, to help revive their enterprises.

The project developer, Alhaji Sadiq Shafi’u Tahir, represented by former Vice Chairman of Jema’a LGA, Isyaka Ladan, noted that the quality of work allows the market to compete with those in major urban centers. He expressed confidence that the facility would revive economic activities and advised traders to utilize the provided amenities efficiently.

In a remark, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jema’a LGA, Alhaji Ibrahim Koli, described the market’s reopening as a pivotal development for fostering peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and understanding among the people.

Representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) also advised the trading community to use the market as a platform to promote harmony among people of diverse faiths and ethnicities.
