PLASU Breaks Ground on Major Infrastructure Projects to Boost Learning and Security

Plateau State University (PLASU) in Bokkos has awarded three key infrastructure contracts aimed at upgrading academic facilities and enhancing campus security.

The projects include the construction of an extension to the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences Building and the renovation of the Senate Building—both funded under the 2025 TETFund Annual Intervention. Also approved is the construction of a solid block perimeter fence, financed through the 2025 TETFund Special Allocation for Disaster Recovery.

On January 5, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Best, formally handed over the project sites to the contractors following a rigorous selection process. Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Moses Galadima, he reaffirmed the university’s commitment to infrastructure and academic excellence.

“These projects are vital to our administration. We will provide all necessary support, but we insist on timely delivery and strict compliance with standards. Excellence is non-negotiable,” stated Professor Galadima.

Harriman Engineering Ltd secured the contract for the medical sciences extension and the perimeter fence, with completion timelines set at 52 weeks and 16 weeks, respectively. The Senate Building renovation was awarded to Blossom Innovators Ltd and is expected to be completed within 13 weeks.

Company representatives Greg Lawal (Harriman Engineering Ltd) and Everest Miri (Blossom Innovators Ltd) thanked the university management and pledged to deliver ahead of schedule, while appealing for continued cooperation during the execution phase.

Once completed, the projects are set to significantly improve learning environments, administrative efficiency, and security across the PLASU campus.
