Nasarawa Education Commissioner Convenes Strategic Meeting to Streamline Ministry Operations

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D. W. Mamman, has convened a strategic management meeting with directors and senior staff to address operational efficiencies and critical challenges within the Ministry.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Mamman commended the staff's collective efforts but issued a firm warning against the leakage of confidential information regarding file movements. He described the practice as "unhealthy for the system and capable of endangering the lives and safety of personnel," and demanded it stop immediately.

The Commissioner then outlined key directives to strengthen the Ministry's performance:

Dr. Mamman charged Directors to handle all official correspondence with greater diligence and timeliness, especially communications with other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). He stressed that prompt responses and proper follow-up on assignments were essential to avoid delays.

 Inquiry into a stalled in-house training program led the Commissioner to order its immediate commencement. He reaffirmed his commitment to rewarding staff who excel in the training examinations, stating that continuous development is vital for improved productivity and service delivery.

Dr. Mamman informed the meeting of a new directive from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). Henceforth, school accreditation for external exams will be tied to teachers' professional registration, a policy affecting all educational levels and both public and private institutions.

The Commissioner discussed plans to beautify the Ministry's premises, including planting palm trees, and directed officials to coordinate with the complex’s maintenance company for better upkeep.

Dr. Mamman concluded by framing official correspondence as a tool for capacity building, preparing diligent staff for future higher responsibilities. He also took a moment to acknowledge the recent loss of a staff member, attributing it to the will of God, while thanking the team for their dedication.
