MRS. ABIGAIL SUNDAY MARSHALL KATUNG CONFERRED WITH PRESTIGIOUS TRADITIONAL TITLE OF MYIRIYA BAJJU

The wife of the Senator representing the Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone, Mrs. Abigail Sunday Marshall Katung, has been conferred with the prestigious traditional title of Myiriya Bajju.

The revered title was bestowed upon Mrs. Abigail, who is also the 130th Lord Mayor of Leeds, by the Paramount Ruler of the Bajju Traditional Council, His Royal Highness, Mr. Luka Kogi Yabwat (Agwam Bajju II). The ceremony took place at the royal palace in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, during the New Year celebrations.

While conferring the title, His Royal Highness stated that the honour recognizes her outstanding humanitarian service and unwavering commitment to national development.

The Royal Father highlighted her deep cultural ties, consistent support for unity, preservation of Bajju heritage, and meaningful contributions to community development as the distinguished qualities that earned her this recognition.

The title Myiriya Bajju symbolises peace, comfort, respect, and appreciation—values that reflect the high esteem in which she is held by the Bajju people.

Responding to the title conferred on his wife, Senator Katung stated, "I am profoundly grateful to His Royal Highness and the entire Bajju Traditional Council for this singular honour bestowed on my wife. We do not take this recognition for granted, and we remain deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in her."

He also appealed to his people to continue to promote peace and unity through their words and actions, in the collective interest of progress and sustainable development.

"Congratulations, my Myiriya, the Myiriya of Bajju. May your reign bring peace, comfort, and renewed hope to the Bajju land," the Senator added.
