Jema'a LG Chairman Seeks Improved Press Collaboration for Public Engagement

By: Abubakar Labaran Kafanchan

The Executive Chairman of Jema'a Local Government Area, Mr. Peter Tanko Dogara, has called for a renewed and stronger partnership between the Council and the press. This collaboration, he stated, is essential to improve the dissemination of information regarding the Council's developmental projects and activities.

Chairman Dogara emphasized that such synergy is crucial to ensure the people of the Local Government are not only kept informed but are given a strong sense of inclusion as his administration steers the Council's affairs.

He expressed these views in his office this week during a meeting with members of the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum. Dogara noted his concern that a significant portion of the local population remains unaware of the developmental strides being recorded by the Council, describing the information gap as counter-productive.

"All citizens of the Local Government deserve to know what their elected representatives are doing, having given us the mandate," the Chairman stated.

He vowed that moving forward, information on the Council's projects and activities would be made transparent and accessible to justify the public's confidence in his administration.

Responding, the Chairman of the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum, Mr. Ayina Reuben Kube, acknowledged that a poor flow of information from the Chairman's office had previously hindered effective collaboration with the press.

He assured that members of the Forum, under the umbrella of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), would work diligently to project and accurately report the Council's activities going forward.
