Father of Mass Killing Suspect Demands Son's Swift Execution
Mallam Auwalu, father of Umar Auwalu—the principal suspect in the murder of a housewife and her six children has publicly called for the government to swiftly try his son and secure a death sentence.
In a radio interview in Kano on Monday, Mallam Auwalu stated, “The likes of my son, Umar, should not be allowed in society. They should be eliminated to allow for a sane environment.”
Speaking in Hausa, he also suggested his son may be responsible for another crime. “I suspect that the same Umar was behind the killing of the Darayi Hausa wife’s younger sister last month,” he revealed.
He expressed certainty that his son had committed other unknown offenses. “I’m quite sure Umar has been committing several crimes which we were not aware of. Now that he has been arrested, he should be punished accordingly.”
Mallam Auwalu urged authorities not to delay the judicial process, warning, “I don’t want the government or the security agencies to delay his trial. If he is allowed to stay in prison even one day, some politicians might come and forgive him, and that will not go well for our society.”
