APC Chairman Declares Plateau a 'United Front' Ahead of 2027 Elections

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the party in Plateau State is now a unified political force, projecting strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general elections.

Yilwatda made the statement on Tuesday during an APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency held in Pankshin. He attributed the party's strengthened position to the collapse of major opposition structures and the integration of former political adversaries.

“All the stumbling blocks we had in 2023 are no longer there. Those who opposed us then have joined us now,” Yilwatda stated, referencing the defection of key figures, including state officials, to the APC.

Describing the PKK constituency as a traditional stronghold for the party, he expressed confidence in its electoral significance. “Come 2027, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will pull some of his highest votes here, both in numbers and in percentage... Our target is over one million votes [in Plateau State],” he declared.

Yilwatda emphasized a new era of internal engagement, announcing an end to public criticism of Governor Caleb Mutfwang. “Now I have access. If the government gets it wrong, I can engage directly... That is the right way to build governance,” he explained.

Addressing concerns from long-standing members, the Chairman assured that the party structure would remain inclusive. “Nobody is coming to take over this party... APC gives equal rights and privileges to everyone, whether you joined today or ten years ago,” he said, urging leaders at all levels to welcome new defectors.

He also listed party reforms under his leadership, including digital membership registration and the expansion of the APC’s dominance in the National Assembly.

The meeting featured affirmations of loyalty from prominent lawmakers, including Senator Diket Plang and Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, who pledged that Plateau would deliver a historic vote for the APC in 2027.
