Zamfara First Lady Fosters Unity, Distributes Christmas Support to Women

Gusau – In a gesture promoting interfaith harmony and seasonal goodwill, the Wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has distributed welfare packages to Christian women across the state to ease their Christmas celebrations.

The distribution ceremony was held at the Government House in Gusau on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady expressed her appreciation for the steadfast support Christian faithful have given to the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal. She noted that such solidarity strengthens ongoing efforts to improve the wellbeing of all citizens.

Hajiya Huriyya described women as indispensable pillars of peace, stability, and development, highlighting their critical role in shaping families and communities.

“The strength of Zamfara lies in the resilience and commitment of its women. They are the backbone of our society, and their contributions continue to drive the growth and progress of our state,” she said

The welfare packages included bags of rice, pasta, sugar, cooking oil, cash support, and other essential items designed to help families celebrate the festive season with comfort and dignity.

Beneficiaries were drawn from a diverse spectrum of groups, including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Yoruba and Igbo communities, non-indigenous groups, security formations, and professional bodies such as teachers, nurses, market women, and youth corps members.

The First Lady explained that the initiative was designed to alleviate seasonal burdens and promote compassion, unity, and collective wellbeing. She urged beneficiaries to share the items equitably within their communities.

“I pray that this season brings peace, blessings, and prosperity to every household. May we continue to work together to build a harmonious and prosperous Zamfara State,” she added.

Hajiya Huriyya reaffirmed her commitment to championing programs that uplift women, strengthen families, and enhance community development.

Representatives of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Martila Udowella (CAN), Lolo Ugueze Theresa Obijiaku (Igbo Community), and Mrs. Esther Ariyo (Yoruba Women Community), commended the First Lady for her kindness and generosity. They pledged their continued support to the state government.
