Kaduna PDP Leaders in Zone 3 Close Ranks, Eye 2027 Comeback
Stakeholders rally in Kafanchan, express confidence in grassroots strength and future electoral gains
By Abubakar Labaran
Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zone 3 of Kaduna State have reaffirmed the party’s resilience and grassroots strength, declaring their readiness to reclaim political dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commitment was made on Monday in Kafanchan at a stakeholders’ summit themed “Get Strengthened: A Wake-Up Call to PDP Members.”
Zonal Chairman Yusuf Danjuma Akuso dismissed concerns over recent defections, insisting the PDP remains deeply rooted among supporters. He confidently stated that the zone has the capacity to produce a senator and members of the House of Representatives in future elections.
Special Guest of Honour, former Governor of Kaduna State Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, urged members to remain resolute, focused, and united as the party prepares for 2027. He assured that internal leadership disputes at the national level would not weaken the PDP’s electoral prospects.
Makarfi also cautioned against money politics during primaries, advising the party to select principled and credible candidates. “The future of our party depends on integrity, vision, and commitment—not financial influence,” he emphasized.
In a goodwill message, former Minister of Environment Mrs. Lawrencia Mallam reaffirmed the commitment of women to the PDP and pledged continued mobilization of women across the zone.
Immediate past Kaduna State PDP Chairman Felix Hassan Hyat highlighted the party’s legacy in Southern Kaduna, recalling the creation of chiefdoms and rural infrastructure development during the Makarfi administration.
State Chairman Chief Edward Percy Masha commended members for their trust in the current leadership, noting that a recent court ruling had affirmed the party’s challenge against what he termed the “installation” of local government chairmen without elections. He added that the departure of some members has allowed a new generation of leaders to emerge, strengthening the party’s structure.
The meeting featured solidarity messages from various party leaders, reinforcing a renewed sense of unity and determination within the PDP in Zone 3
