First Lady distributes1,000 bags of rice to widows, orphans in Nasarawa

Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of Nigeria has distributed 1000 bags of 25kg rice to no fewer than 1000 widows and orphans in Nasarawa State.

The rice was distributed to the beneficiaries by the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Christian Northern Nigeria Progressive Forum (CNNPF), on behalf of the First Lady. 

Speaking during the distribution exercise on Wednesday in the Akwanga Local Government Area of the State, the Coordinator of the CNNPF, Kuje Danlami-Alaphu, explained that the gesture was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the President Bola Tinubu's administration.

He noted that the food outreach scheme is specially designed to provide support to the underprivileged across the 13 LGAs of the state during this festive season.

He explained that it was in line with the resolve of the current administration to leave no one behind in ensuring food security and sufficiency for all citizens of the country.

Danlami-Alaphu said the bags of rice were given to the Christian Northern Nigeria Progressive Forum across the 19 Northern states, and we in Nasarawa State are happy to have benefited from the gesture.

"The rice was given to be shared for the vulnerable to use it to celebrate Christmas and New Year, and we are sharing with the vulnerable across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state," he added.

The CNNPF Coordinator, therefore expressed gratitude to the First Lady for the show of love and care to the less-privileged and vulnerable residents of the state during this festive season.

"We want to appreciate our mother, the mother of our nation, for her kind gesture and for giving us this opportunity. 

"We pray that the Almighty God will bless her abundantly for always remembering the less-privileged people in Nasarawa State," he said.

On his part, the North Central Zonal Coordinator of the CNNPF, Manga Asha explained that the food distribution exercise was part of efforts to ameliorate the challenges being experienced by the less-privileged residents to improve their livelihoods.

He urged the beneficiaries not to sell the bags of rice, but to make good use of the food items in their respective homes for themselves and their families.

Also, the National Secretary of the CNNPF, Dauda Karshi, who was on the ground to witness the distribution of the bags of rice to the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and assured her of the loyalty and continuous support of members of the organisation at all times. 

One of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of the others, Amina Aminu-Kure, said the food items given to them not only put a smile on their faces, but would greatly help them in having regular food to eat in their respective homes during this festive season. (NAN).
