Kaduna Governor Uba Sani Hailed by COEASU for Salary, Retirement Age Reforms

Gidan Waya Kaduna- The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Gidan Waya Chapter, has commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for approving the implementation of the 70% CONCASS/CONTEDISS salary structure and the new 65-year retirement age for academic staff.

The commendation was contained in a communique signed by the Chapter Chairman, Dr. Christopher Nuhu Yerima, and issued to newsmen on Thursday.

The Union also lauded the Governor for the release of accreditation funds for both NCE and undergraduate programs. Furthermore, COEASU acknowledged significant infrastructure upgrades underway at the college's main campus in Gidan Waya, including the renovation of student hostels, science laboratories, the science complex, a 1000-capacity lecture theatre, and new parking lots.

The communique extended gratitude to the State Commissioner for Education, Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, for his role in facilitating the advancement of teacher education in Kaduna State.

COEASU also recognized the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Isma'ila Mahmud Lawal, for sponsoring a bill to amend the Kaduna State College of Education law to accommodate its dual mandate.

At the national level, the Union praised the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, for awarding a faculty complex to be sited at the Gidan Waya campus, a project described as a major boost to the academic environment.

The communique also expressed unequivocal gratitude to Senator Sunday Marshal Katung and Hon. Daniel Amos for their "immense support and contribution to the growth and development of the institution."

COEASU stated that these combined efforts by government stakeholders would significantly elevate the college to a new level of development.
