Zamfara APC Group Warns Defence Minister Against Using Office for Politics

The Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front, a group within Zamfara State's All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party's national leadership to restrain the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, from using his official position for partisan political activities.

The group's Chairman, Yushau Abdullahi Mada, made the call during a press conference in Gusau on Saturday.

Mada stated that the appeal was necessary because the mandate of the Defence Ministry is to safeguard the nation from internal and external threats, not to serve as a platform for political gatherings.

He reaffirmed the group's unwavering support for Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a prominent APC chieftain in the state, whom they described as a dedicated stalwart committed to fighting injustice within Zamfara's political landscape.

"Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi is a highly relevant figure, recognized for his strong grassroots political movement across the state," Mada said.

The chairman also clarified the group's stance on the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial election, stating they would not support any candidate from Zamfara West. He emphasized the group's commitment to the principles of equity, fairness, and justice.

"We believe in equity, fairness, and justice, which is why we will only support a power shift to produce the APC governorship candidate from Zamfara Central in 2027," Mada reaffirmed.
