Edo Governor Halts All Land Approvals After Discovery of Vast Property Linked to Minor

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has ordered an immediate suspension of all Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) issuance across the state. This decisive action follows a startling revelation that approximately 14,000 hectares of land are allegedly registered to a 17-year-old boy.

The governor announced that a full-scale investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances behind this acquisition. The probe will focus on determining the legitimacy of the property transfer and verifying the source of the wealth used for the purchase.

Governor Okpebholo assured the public that the suspension is temporary. He stated that the signing and distribution of C-of-Os would resume as soon as the investigation is concluded, noting that the necessary documents have already been printed and are ready for a future, verified rollout.

This move has been widely seen as a critical step toward ensuring transparency and accountability in land management within Edo State.
