Gen. Musa Calls for More Military Literature to Inspire Younger Nigerians

By Abubakar Labaran

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has urged Nigerians to produce more literature celebrating the military to inspire younger generations to join the Armed Forces.

Gen. Musa made the call during the public presentation of the book "Professionalism and Service to Fatherland: The Military Heroes of Southern Kaduna"  in Kagoro, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The book, authored by Pastor Agat Nkut, honours retired military officers from Southern Kaduna.

Represented by Maj.-Gen. Henry Yanet, Gen. Musa emphasized that documenting military service is a noble endeavour all citizens should embrace. He commended Pastor Nkut for chronicling the retired officers' contributions to national stability.

"We encourage people to write about the military because if we don't tell our story, hardly anyone will tell it for us," stated the Defence Chief.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, represented by Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Dr. James Kanyip, described the book as "a landmark of patriotism."  He praised the initiative for preserving the veterans' legacies and called on all retired personnel to remain active in national development and peacebuilding.

Jerry Adams, Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, noted the book serves as a vital reminder of the retired officers' role in fostering unity, patriotism, and resilience. Adams stressed that service to the nation extends beyond uniformed personnel:  "As we navigate security complexities, we must look to our retired officers' example. Their professionalism and tireless peace efforts inspire us all."

Reviewing the 466-page book, Prof. Ayuba Kwasau highlighted its five chapters and lauded the author's meticulous research, historical insight, and engaging narrative. He urged young Nigerians to draw inspiration from the profiled military heroes' exemplary service.
