RETIRED GENERAL NUHU ANGBAZO URGES PARENTS TO INSTILL MORAL VALUES IN CHILDREN, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR CHURCH FACILITY ON WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY

Retired General Nuhu Angbazo has called on parents to prioritize moral upbringing and discipline in raising their children, emphasizing that strong ethical foundations are crucial for national development.  

The former military officer gave the admonition on Sunday during a special church service at the United English Baptist Church, Akwanga, to commemorate the 2025 World Children’s Day.  

Expressing his delight at the exemplary behavior of the children present, Gen. Angbazo (Rtd) commended their attentiveness and orderliness throughout the service. He stressed that such discipline reflects proper parental guidance and urged caregivers to remain steadfast in nurturing responsible future leaders.  

In the spirit of the celebration, the retired general announced plans to construct a child-friendly convenience facility within the church premises to enhance the comfort and safety of young worshippers. The gesture, he explained, aligns with his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote children’s well-being.  

The service featured vibrant performances, including inspirational hymns, a thought-provoking sermon by young Pastor Goodman Maikasuwa, and a dramatic presentation by the church’s children’s department. The performances underscored the importance of faith, integrity, and communal responsibility in child development.  

Pastor Maikasuwa, in his message, echoed Gen. Angbazo’s sentiments, urging parents to lead by example and invest time in their children’s spiritual and moral growth.  

Gen. Angbazo further emphasized that society must collaborate to safeguard children’s rights and provide an enabling environment for their growth. He called on government agencies, religious institutions, and community leaders to intensify efforts in combating child abuse, neglect, and poor education standards. 

As the event concluded, attendees expressed gratitude for the retired general’s advocacy and generosity, reaffirming their commitment to raising morally upright children. 

World Children’s Day, observed annually on November 20, was locally commemorated by the church to highlight the unique needs and potential of young people in the community.
