N50,000 Prize Awaits Best Trainee in SDGs’ Skills Acquisition Competition

As the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Skills Acquisition Training Programme concluded last month, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule on SDGs, Abubakar Murtala Mohammad, announced a N50,000 cash reward for the most outstanding trainee in an upcoming competition.  

The SSA’s office is organizing the competition to allow participants to showcase the skills they acquired during the training. The top performer will receive the cash prize, aimed at encouraging excellence and self-sufficiency among young women in the state.  

Recall that the Office of the SSA on SDGs recently enrolled the third batch of trainees in its Skills Acquisition Programme, where selected young women were trained in makeup application and Gele tying.  

Speaking during one of the training sessions, the SSA explained that the cash reward initiative was introduced to support young women in acquiring income-generating skills, ultimately improving their livelihoods.  

He revealed that three women would be invited as models for the competition, with trainees demonstrating their makeup skills on them. The best-performing participant will be awarded N50,000.  

Mohammad urged the trainees to take the programme seriously, emphasizing that the skills they acquired should be seen as a pathway to financial independence, not just a leisure activity. He encouraged them to leverage their training to build sustainable businesses.  

Additionally, the SSA disclosed that the SDGs office would provide starter packs to help trainees launch their makeup businesses, highlighting the lucrative potential of the beauty industry.
