Jema’a LGA Celebrates Children’s Day After 16-Year Hiatus, Marks Return to Peace

Kafanchan Township Stadium in Jema’a Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State was abuzz with excitement as the community gathered to celebrate the 2025 Children’s Day—the first such event in 16 years. The occasion signified a triumphant return to normalcy and lasting peace for the Zone, which had endured years of unrest, violence, and instability.  

The Executive Chairman of Jema’a LGA, Hon. Peter Tanko Dogara, emphasized the event’s purpose: to raise awareness about the pressing issues affecting children, including poverty, lack of access to quality education and healthcare, and child labor

"We must tackle these challenges head-on by enrolling children in basic education, providing skills acquisition training, and empowering them to become self-reliant," he stated.  

Hon. Dogara urged schools and vocational centers to create engaging learning experiences for children and commended community leaders and stakeholders for their efforts in maintaining peace. He also praised Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for implementing policies to support children, including school feeding programs and initiatives for out-of-school youth.  

"Today, we celebrate not just our children, but our future. Every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment to thrive," he added.  

His administration has prioritized education, with ongoing reconstruction projects at Model Primary School Zankan and UBE Primary School Ngaskiya. He also lauded teachers for their dedication in shaping young minds.  

Guest speaker Mr. Ishaya Dare Akau applauded Hon. Dogara for reviving the celebration after years of insecurity, calling it a commendable step toward prioritizing children’s welfare.  

"As a politician, I support any administration that genuinely cares for its people, especially children," Akau stated.  

Aligning with the 2025 theme, "Our Children, Our Future,"he stressed that children are tomorrow’s leaders and urged the government to intensify efforts in safeguarding their well-being.  

"No investment in a child’s education is wasted," he declared, calling for stronger protections against harmful practices. He urged parents, officials, and civil society to actively engage in children’s programs for encouragement.  

In his closing remarks, Akau charged children to be disciplined, respect authority, and focus on their studies to become productive citizens.  

The event marked a hopeful milestone for Jema’a LGA, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the next generation amid renewed peace and development.
