Nasarawa Eggon Chairman Commissions NG-CARES Micro-Projects in Akun-Abmeh Community

The Executive Chairman of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government, Barrister Iliyasu Ibn Aliyu, commissioned four micro-projects executed by the Nasarawa State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) under the NG-CARES programme in Akun-Abmeh community.  

The event, attended by prominent indigenes of the community, celebrated the state government’s efforts in bringing development to rural areas. Barrister Ibn Aliyu commended Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for prioritizing grassroots infrastructure, particularly potable water, which he described as vital for improving living standards.  

Representing the NG-CARES State Coordinator, Umar Ibrahim Dahiru, the General Manager of CSDA, Arc. Hayatuddeen Ahmed, explained that the NG-CARES initiative adopts a Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach, empowering communities to lead their own projects. He noted that CSDA has implemented over 800 micro-projects across 15 rural communities in Nasarawa Eggon LGA, including Wangibi, Kagbu, Mada Station, and others.  

Arc. Ahmed praised Governor Sule for his consistent funding of NG-CARES interventions across the state’s 13 local government areas and urged Akun-Abmeh residents to maintain the newly commissioned projects.  

A community stakeholder, Mr. Amos Magaji, who donated land for the borehole project, expressed gratitude to CSDA and appealed for more developmental projects. Similarly, the Community Project Management Committee Chairman, Mr. Jatau Namo, thanked the agency and the state government for selecting Akun-Abmeh as a beneficiary.  

The commissioned projects include:  

- A 1-kilometre drainage system  

- A solar-powered borehole  

- 30 school desks, 4 tables, and chairs  

- Renovated toilet facilities at Pilot Science Primary School, Tawa Galle North.
