Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education Receives ASUSS Leadership, Pledges Commitment to Workers' Welfare

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D.W. Mamman, has received the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), led by its Chairman, Comrade Bello Kwara, in his office.

During the visit, Comrade Kwara stated that the purpose of the meeting was to congratulate Dr. Mamman on his reappointment as Commissioner for Education, describing it as a testament to his exemplary leadership.

The ASUSS leadership also took the opportunity to present their requests for consideration. Among the key issues raised were the need for timely promotions and proper placement after promotion, salary increments, the delayed payment of newly recruited teachers, and concerns surrounding the extension of service years for retiring staff.

In response, Dr. Mamman expressed his appreciation for the union’s visit and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the education sector in the state. He assured the ASUSS leadership that the ministry would take all necessary steps to improve the working conditions of teachers.

"Your demands are being reviewed, and preparations for the payment of newly recruited teachers’ salaries are already underway, as directed by our amiable Governor," the Commissioner stated.

He further assured the union of the ministry’s dedication to addressing their concerns and fostering a more conducive working environment for educators in the state.
