World Bank Applauds Nasarawa for Outstanding Performance in NG-CARES Programme.

World Bank Task Team has singled out Nasarawa state for it's exceptional performance and numerous achievements through successful execution of Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme.

Dr. Lire Ersado, World Bank's Task Team Leader of NG-CARES gave the commendation during his visit to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule at the Asokoro Nasarawa Governors Lodge Wednesday February 26th, 2025 in Abuja.

He described the programme execution results from Nasarawa state as pace-setting and a very good example for other states to emulate in Nigeria. The Task Team Leader equally appreciated Engineer Abdullahi Sule for investing in poor and indigent people of the state in Nasarawa programme execution scheme.

 Dr. Lire Ersado also hinted that the World Bank is prepared to move into the next phase of the NG-CARES programme which will henceforth focus on sustaining the gains that have been made by strengthening institutions that were instrumental to the successes recorded this far in providing services for the poor and indigent people across the board.

" What we discussed was to greatly appreciate and congratulate Nasarawa state for the great achievements under NG-CARES. The results from Nasarawa are very impressive and set a very good example for other states and for Nigeria and beyond ...

" We want His Excellency to know how much we appreciate all the investments that he is making for the poor and indigent people  of Nasarawa state " Dr. Ersado pointed out.

He stressed that World Bank will going forward focus on consolidating the successes so far recorded and urged that the state sustain investment in the lives of it's people with particular emphasis on having a credible, all inclusive social register for all purposes and intents.

The World Bank Task Team Leader noted that even though Nasarawa state is doing a good job, the World Bank wants the state to be able to include all the poor and indigent  people in the social register. 

" I spoke on the importance of continued investment in the people of Nasarawa and in particular; the importance of investing in the social register of the state. Nasarawa is already doing a good job, but we want more inclusion of all the poor and indigent people and beyond. We all know that when poverty or shock strikes, the state has to be ready to provide support and immediate notice. When flooding, drought, or pandemics like Covid strike, the state needs to be ready to deliver support to the poor and vulnerable " He said.

The World Bank representative was led on the visit by Umar Ibrahim Dahiru, Nasarawa State Coordinator/CEO, NG-CARES programme.
