UNICEF Commends Zamfara State Government for Allocating N2.9 Billion to Social Protection

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has praised the Zamfara state government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, for allocating N2.9 billion to advance social protection programs. This commendation is contained in a letter dated January 30, signed by UNICEF's representative in Nigeria, Cristian Munduate 

According to the letter, the allocation of N2.9 billion by all 14 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in their 2025 budget for social protection initiatives is a significant milestone in strengthening child well-being and addressing poverty among vulnerable populations.

UNICEF acknowledged that this achievement reflects Governor Lawal's administration commitment to improving the lives of the most vulnerable, aligning with the State Social Protection Policy and Law. The organization expressed appreciation for the governor's leadership style and urged continued collaboration to ensure these budget commitments translate into meaningful impact for children and families across Zamfara State.

The UNICEF representative, Cristian Munduate, congratulated Governor Lawal and the Zamfara State Government on the remarkable progress made in advancing social protection for children and vulnerable populations.
