
Senator Lalong Mourns Passing of Dr. Godfrey Bawa, Extends Condolences to Alkali Family Over Loss of Barrister Maurice Alkali
Senator Simon Bako Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District, has expressed profound sorrow over the recent passing of Miskoom Dr. Godfrey Bawa Shitgurum, MON, who died in Abuja.
Accompanied by former Niger State Governor Senator Sani Bello and Plateau North Senator Pam Dachunggyang, Senator Lalong visited the family of the deceased in Abuja to offer his condolences.
Describing Dr. Bawa’s death as a significant loss to Gamailand, Kwo Chiefdom, QuanPan LGA, Plateau State, and Nigeria at large, Lalong highlighted the late philanthropist’s immense contributions to societal development. He noted that Dr. Bawa’s achievements in business and entrepreneurship created numerous job opportunities for youths and inspired many toward self-reliance and positive engagement
Lalong also praised Dr. Bawa’s dedication to philanthropy and his impactful role in supporting the Church and spreading the gospel, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
In response, Mr. Larry Peters Bawa, speaking on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude for the visit and the comforting words shared by the delegation. The Senators also extended their condolences to Dr. Bawa’s wife, Bishop Tina Bawa.
In a separate condolence message, Senator Lalong expressed sympathy to the Alkali family over the loss of their son, Barrister Maurice Alkali, who recently passed away. Lalong described the late lawyer as a young and vibrant individual whose death has left a deep void in the hearts of his family and the community.
He prayed for God’s forgiveness of Barrister Alkali’s sins and for the repose of his soul.
