Senator Lalong Commends President Tinubu for Appointing Prof. Patricia Lar as Acting VC of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja

Senator Simon Bako Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing his constituent, Prof. Patricia Lar, as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University (formerly the University of Abuja).  

Senator Lalong described the appointment as well-deserved, citing Prof. Lar’s impressive academic and administrative credentials.  

He also noted that the President recently approved renaming the university after former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon.  

Senator Lalong congratulated Prof. Lar on her appointment, expressing confidence that she would bring her vast knowledge, versatility, and composure to the role.  

The former Plateau State Governor urged the Acting Vice-Chancellor to demonstrate courage, honesty, fairness, and excellence in addressing the institution’s challenges. He emphasized the need to restore a conducive learning environment for the benefit of staff and students.  

Senator Lalong highlighted that, given the limited time allotted to Prof. Lar to execute her mandate, she would require the support of staff, students, and other key stakeholders to succeed.  

He expressed confidence that Prof. Lar’s achievements would make the people of Plateau State and the Southern Zone proud.  

While assuring her of his personal support and that of his colleagues in the National Assembly, Senator Lalong called for prayers for Prof. Lar and the Governing Council to meet the expectations of the President and Nigerians.
