Permanent Secretary Leads SEMTC Team on Advocacy Visit to Nasarawa State Deputy Governor.

In a bid to improve access to emergency medical services in rural areas, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Damian John Ali, led a delegation from the State Emergency Medical Technical Committee (SEMTC) on an advocacy visit to the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State. 

The purpose of the visit was to seek government support for the implementation of the **Rural Emergency Service and Maternal Transport Programme (REMSTP)**, a key component of the **National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS)**. This initiative, approved by the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, aims to enhance emergency response capabilities, particularly for maternal and child health emergencies in underserved communities.

During the meeting, Dr. Ali underscored the program's potential to significantly reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates by ensuring timely access to critical care. He stressed the importance of state-level commitment, including policy support, resource allocation, and infrastructure development, to ensure the program's success.

In his response, the Deputy Governor praised the initiative and assured the delegation of the state government's full support for the effective implementation of REMSTP. He reaffirmed the administration's dedication to strengthening the healthcare system and improving emergency response services across the state. 

The visit marks a significant step toward addressing healthcare disparities in rural areas and underscores the collaborative efforts between federal and state governments to enhance emergency medical services.
