Jama"a Local Government Chairman Reiterate Commitment to Enhancing Basic Education

The Executive Chairman of Jema'a Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Honorable Peter Tanko Dogara, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving basic education within the local government area

The Chairman reiterated this commitment during a stakeholders' meeting organized under the "Save the Children" project. The event took place at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) office in Takau, Kafanchan.

Represented by the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Honorable Emmanuel Utung, the Chairman described the initiative as timely and commendable. The project aims to reach out-of-school children in Kaduna State, with a particular focus on Jema'a Local Government Area.  

He emphasized that the initiative aligns with his administration's 5-point agenda, which prioritizes providing children with access to quality basic education.  

The project is designed to offer evidence-based interventions, focusing on increasing enrollment, retention, and completion rates among marginalized and vulnerable children who are either out of school or have dropped out.  

Stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youth representatives, and parents, were urged to collaborate and support the initiative to ensure its success. Additionally, the Legislative Council, representing various wards, is expected to work in synergy to mark a significant step forward in improving education in the area.  

The Out-of-School Children Mapping Exercise, which began a few weeks ago in Jema'a LGA, aims to identify target audiences and communities for the program's intervention.  

Jema'a is one of the nine local government areas selected for this initiative in Kaduna State. The others include Sabon Gari, Soba, Lere, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Kauru, and Kachia.

The program will support out-of-school children aged 6 to 18 over a four-year period, utilizing an effective curriculum and approach to facilitate learning. Children who face challenges in coping with the academic curriculum will be redirected to skill acquisition programs, enabling them to become self-reliant members of society.
