Senator Katung Launches Major Science Laboratory Projects Across Southern Kaduna

By: Abubakar Labaran

In a bold move to strengthen science education and create better opportunities for young people across Southern Kaduna, Distinguished Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has embarked on the construction, comprehensive renovation, and full equipping of Science Laboratory Centres in five secondary schools across the district.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Senator, Mr. Midat Joseph, the intervention reflects the Senator's commitment to investing in projects that will have a lasting impact on the lives of young people and communities. It is also part of his broader effort to ensure that students across Southern Kaduna have access to the facilities and practical learning opportunities they need to compete in a rapidly changing world.

According to the statement, the first phase of the project covers the following schools:

· GSS Ngarshang-Kwoi, Jaba LGA: Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre

· Government Secondary School Sonje, Jema'a LGA: Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre

· Government Secondary School Zankan-Moroa, Kaura LGA: Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre

· Government Secondary School Katari, Kachia LGA: Construction and full equipping of a new Science Laboratory Centre

· Government Secondary School Kamuru, Zangon Kataf LGA: Complete renovation and re-equipping of the existing Science Laboratory to modern standards

The laboratories will be equipped with modern scientific apparatus, reagents and chemicals, and appropriate safety facilities to support practical learning in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

For Senator Katung, investing in education is an investment in the future of Southern Kaduna. He believes that students should not be limited by the quality of facilities available to them, but should instead be given the opportunity to discover their potential and pursue careers in science, technology, medicine, and engineering.

According to the Senator, "You cannot teach 21st century science with 19th century facilities. If we must produce future doctors, engineers, and scientists from Southern Kaduna, we must invest in the foundation today."

Work is already at an advanced stage across the project sites, with the completed facilities expected to be commissioned soon and made available for immediate use by students.
